Do something every day

Published on 03 November 2021

I recently heard someone reference a documentary they watched about Francis Bacon. I’ve not been able to find the documentary, but they said that he would paint something every day. It didn’t have to be good, but he would do it every day.

As well as being a professional web developer, I also consider myself a photographer. It’s something I do for the love of it. For a long time now I’ve been taking pictures every day. Sometimes I come up with something good that I feel is worth sharing. Often I don’t, but I’m certain that I’d never take a good photo if I just waited around for inspiration.

As the photography legend once said:

“It’s seldom you make a great picture. You have to milk the cow quite a lot to get plenty of milk to make a little cheese.”

— Henri Cartier-Bresson

That’s the main reason that I aim to write and publish something every day throughout November. People have told me over the years that I write well, and that’s something I’d like to work on.

This post is part of a series of posts in which I write and publish a blog post every day throughout November 2021. There are no constraints on the project and the posts don’t neccissarliy have any connection to each other.

See all of the posts in the 30 days of writing project.
